Worcester Earn-A-Bike
Volunteer Today!
No experience is necessary. We welcome all levels of experience and love of Bikes. We will set you up with a volunteer activity that you feel comfortable with and teach you what you need to know.
Common Volunteer Tasks Include:
- Fixing up bikes
- Teaching bike repairs
- Stripping bikes for parts
- Patching Bike Tubes
- Wheel repair
- Sorting Bike Parts
- And other odds and ends to keep the shop running smoothly
Donate Today!
In order to fulfill our mission, we accept donations during open shop hours. If you have one or two bikes then feel free to stop by anytime the shop is open. If you have a larger donation, please send us an email to coordinate a time.
We accept any size or style of bike as long as there is no major rusting. Even if it is not fully functioning, we can make repairs or use it for parts. However, if there is excessive rust we are not able to accept donations. We are also not able to accept used helmets for safety reasons. Otherwise we will take pretty much anything bicycle related!
If you have spare time, we can always use some extra help picking up donations from partner organizations. Send us an email to get more information. And monetary donations help us keep the shop open and the lights on. Your donation gets bikes rolling out into the community to those who need them most!
Outreach, Education, & Advocacy
We are a community bike shop but also like to get out into the community. We need tons of help connecting with other neighborhoods and spreading the word on the work we do. Below are a few activities we commonly do throughout the year.
- Tabling at community events to spread word about WEAB
- Attend community meetings to promote safe riding and improved infrastructure in Worcester
- Meet with community to teach about safe riding such as bike rodeos, and youth training
- Host pop up shops in different neighborhoods
- Support Social Media and Website development
Become A Wrench!
Unlock your potential and lead the way with Worcester Earn-A-Bike's exclusive opportunity: Becoming a Wrench. Wrench is our title for volunteer Mechanics that help us run the shop. Passionate volunteers have the chance to elevate their skills in advanced bike mechanics while taking on increasing responsibilities. Seamlessly transition from enthusiast to expert as you immerse yourself in our dynamic workshop environment, guided by experienced mentors dedicated to your success. With each pedal turn, you'll inch closer to becoming an expert bike mechanic.
VOLUNTEER!Community Rides!
Fixing bikes is great! But riding is so much more fun! Help us come up with fun ride ideas. Community rides help us get into the community and spread the word about the shop…plus it is always a good time. Below are a few vital roles we can always use help with.
- Make and test routes
- Schedule and promote monthly rides
- Lead the ride itself
- Help recruit people to cork and be guides during the ride
- Plan themes and fun stops along the ride
- Post ride activities
Youth Mentors
One of our primary missions is to provide a fun place for youth to fix their bikes and learn so they can do it on their own. If you are interested in supporting the youth at the shop, please reach out. No bike mechanic skills necessary! We can teach you along the way.
Points:
- Help youth with bike repairs
- Teach new skills
- Make it a fun space
Fundraising
Donations and volunteers are very important to our success. However, we still need money to keep the shop running. Even if you don’t have bike mechanic skills you can still be a vital supporter of the shop by helping us plan fun events and outreach to help raise money. See some of the activities that you can get involved with.
- Annual fundraising event
- Need help planning activities
- Organizing raffles during the event
- Outreach and promotion
- Help selling bicycles and parts
