groups.
The
green
economy
focuses
on
generating
new
jobs,
goods,
and
services
which
encourage
less‐destructive
processes
to
the
health
of
the
planet.
The
solidarity
economy
is
commercial
and
non‐commercial
activity
based
on
the
principles
of
solidarity,
sustainability,
equity,
participatory
democracy,
and
pluralism.
Taken
together,
the
green
solidarity
economy
focuses
on
“sustainable”,
“closed‐cycle”,
or
“environmentally
friendly”
production
and
distribution
processes
which
promote
workplace
democracy,
social
justice,
and
community
empowerment. The
Worcester
Green
Jobs
Coalition
spearheaded
the
organization
of
this
conference
since
late
October,
2010.

The
coalition
represents
over
two‐dozen
local
organizations
committed
to
collaborative
projects
for
creating
local
sustainable
and
just
development.
